One of Bryan Kohberger’s victims swore someone was “staring at her” outside her house before she and three other students were slaughtered in their home, according to new police interview footage.
Bethany Funke told police in Moscow, Idaho, about roommate Kaylee Goncalves’ chilling encounter when asked if any of the victims had been stalked, according to interview footage revealed in a new Netflix documentary, “The Idaho Murders: College Nightmare.”
“Once Kaylee said, when everyone was, like, gone, and it was only Kaylee, and she was taking [her dog] out, she said she swears she saw someone staring at her,” Funke told cops.

Kohberger, 31, had no apparent connection to Goncalves and fellow University of Idaho undergrads Madison Mogen, Xania Kernodle, and Ethan Chapman before stabbing them to death in a house near campus on November 13, 2022.
Another surviving roommate described hearing Goncalves scream and run to a bathroom in the early hours of that fateful day, followed by a “weird” voice speaking to the girl.
“I heard her go into the bathroom. And I remember her sobbing. I remember hearing this guy’s voice that I didn’t recognize saying, ‘You’re gonna be ok. I’m gonna help you,” roommate Dylan Mortensen told officers from the murder scene.
Mortensen — weeping and wrapped in a blanket — told officers she peeked through her bedroom door and saw a strange man pass.

She then ran to Funke’s room, and the two girls locked themselves inside, eventually calling a male friend to come and check on the other roommates.
It took them eight hours to finally call 911.
“Once Kaylee said, when everyone was, like, gone, and it was only Kaylee, and she was taking [her dog] out, she said she swears she saw someone staring at her,” Funke told cops. Netflix
“There are so many reasons why you may not [called 911]. You’re in shock. It’s traumatic,” Moscow Police Chief Anthony Dahlinger said on the show.
The documentary also includes body camera tape of police sweeping the house and their visceral reactions when discovering the victims’ blood-drenched bodies.

Kohberger — who is serving four consecutive life sentences — will not have to explain his motives for killing the four students, thanks to a guilty plea that also spared him from a possible death penalty.
Yet Kohberger — who was studying criminology at the nearby Washington State University at the time of the murders — has petitioned to withdraw that plea, claiming he was led astray by his own counsel, the New York Times reported on Monday.
