After hitting theaters in late June, “The Invite” is heading to streaming on-demand platforms like Prime Video.
“The Invite,” directed by star Olivia Wilde, is an English-language remake of the 2020 Spanish film “The People Upstairs” with a screenplay from “Parks and Rec” star Rashida Jones and her writing partner Will McCormack.

In the comedy, married couple Angela (Wilde) and Joe (Seth Rogen) invite their upstairs neighbors Piña (Penelope Cruz) and Hawk (Edward Norton) over for a dinner party to impress them. Joe and Angela’s long marriage is on thin ice already, but as the evening progresses and unexpected proposals are made, things begin to spiral out of control.
The Post and Page Six’s entertainment critic Johnny Oleksinski gave the “sophisticated, snappy, seductive and stupendously funny” film four stars when it premiered at the Sundance Film Festival in January, noting it “should go down as one of the best of 2026.”
“The phenomenal script is a bullet train of mean slights, awkward miscommunications, deception and “oh no!” bombshells,” his review read. “And Wilde, her actors — especially masterful Rogen — and editor are silliness savants.”
