Ted Lasso Season 4, Episode 3, “Richmond’s Got Talent,” showed Ted (Jason Sudeikis), Alice (Tanya Reynolds), and Beard (Brendan Hunt) host open tryouts to try to fill out the team and discover fresh talent, like a Susan Boyle. (IYKYK!)
In addition to meeting some new Lady Greyhounds players — including Shannon (Shannon Hayes), Gemma (Abbie Hern), and Lizzie (Faye Marsay) — we met Maria Rojas (Paloma Cinco). If the name sounds familiar, that’s because she’s the sister of Dani Rojas, AFC Richmond’s star striker and all-around ray of sunshine whose catchphrase “football is life” gave us all life.
While Maria claims her brother Dani taught her everything he knows, when tryouts are underway it quickly becomes clear she didn’t learn his incredible football skills. She’s a great sprinter with a can-do attitude, but sadly, she kick a ball… In the end, she wasn’t asked to join the AFC Women’s team. But that’s OK! As noted, Maria Rojas is played by Paloma Cinco, an actor, model, producer, and entrepreneur from Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico. Per Cinco’s IMDb bio, she studied acting at Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts and City Academy in London. And prior to her role in Ted Lasso, Cinco starred in a variety of projects including Nothing to See Here, Una Penquña Confusion, De La Crus, No Translation Required, and Womb Room.

Yes! In a delightful Ted Lasso twist, Season 4 cast the real-life sister of Cristo Fernández to play his character Dani Rojas’ sister in the show. According to Cinco’s IMDb bio, she’s “currently developing projects as a filmmaker along with her brother through their Film Company Espectro MX Films.” And the two co-host the Fútbol es vida Podcast, which is named in honor of Dani’s famous Ted Lasso motto.

Before Ted Lasso Season 4, Fernández suggested that Paloma appear on the show as Dani’s sister Daniela Rojas, adding, “She’s very good at playing football/soccer. She’s very good at it. I don’t know why she didn’t pursue it professionally.”
Paloma explained, “He forced me to play as a kid.” And look at them now!
The surprise Season 4 star attended the Ted Lasso premieres in Los Angeles and New York and shared a carpet photo with the caption, “Dad this is for you! i miss you so much but i know you’re proud watching down on me 🤍🙏🏼.” Truly iconic casting, Ted Lasso.

While we still don’t know if Fernández or other OG Ted Lasso stars will make appearances in Season 4, thanks to Apple TV sharing some behind-the-scenes photos from filming Episode 3, we know that Fernández was on set cheering his sister on!
