LIV Golf is close to getting hit with yet another devastating blow.
Some within the rebel league are “almost resigned” to two-time major winner Jon Rahm quitting the tour, The Telegraph reported Thursday, just as they secure funding to try to stay afloat after the Saudi Public Investment Fund (PIF) pulled out earlier this year.
Rahm, 31, doesn’t appear to be attracted to what a reshaped LIV Golf might look like next year with fewer events and smaller purses, according to the report.

The DP World Tour, which reached an agreement with Rahm a few months ago for him to participate in some events after a dispute, is “increasingly confident” he will play more of their events next year, per the Telegraph.
And, ostensibly, an attempt to return to the PGA Tour would follow.
It’s unclear if Rahm would be given a pathway to play quickly like Brooks Koepka or if he’d have to sit out a year like Patrick Reed, who is eligble to play again on the PGA Tour on Aug. 25.
LIV Golf CEO Scott O’Neil confirmed Wednesday at its Trump Bedminster event that it had an agreement with a lead investor (BC Partners, per multiple reports).
The Post’s Mark Cannizzaro first reported on July 29 that LIV was on the cusp of securing funding.
However, a top star like Rahm walking away could complicate matters, as the Financial Times reported BC Partners would want assurances of the league’s stars remaining.
Rahm, the 2021 U.S. Open and 2023 Masters winner, is still owed nine figures from his reported $300 million contract, according to the Telegraph.

Bryson DeChambeau’s contract is expiring, but he has publicly been committed to LIV Golf, though he has also teased becoming a full-time YouTuber.
LIV Golf’s team championship, scheduled to begin in two weeks, has reportedly been cancelled, which would make next week’s event in Indianapolis its last of the year.
