Callum Turner may not have been in Hall H at San Diego Comic-Con, but he still had a surprise waiting for fans.
During Apple TV+’s panel on Saturday, the BAFTA-winning actor appeared via video to introduce the first teaser for Neuromancer, the streamer’s highly anticipated adaptation of William Gibson’s 1984 cyberpunk classic.
In the clip, which you can watch below, Turner greeted the crowd before apologizing for missing the convention and teasing that the footage was “just your first access point” into the upcoming series.
The teaser (above) offered fans their first glimpse at the neon-soaked world of Neuromancer, showcasing the series’ futuristic aesthetic, action-packed sequences and the digital landscape that helped make Gibson’s novel one of the defining works of the cyberpunk genre. The book went on to win the Nebula Award, Hugo Award and Philip K. Dick Award after its release.
Arriving on Apple TV+ on January 22, Neuromancer follows Case (Turner), a damaged but highly skilled super-hacker who is pulled back into the dangerous world of cybercrime after years away from the digital underworld. Alongside Molly (Briana Middleton), a razor-sharp assassin known as a “razor-girl,” Case takes on a high-stakes heist targeting a powerful corporate dynasty hiding secrets that could change everything.
The 10-episode series comes from creators Graham Roland and JD Dillard and features an ensemble cast that includes Mark Strong, Joseph Lee, Peter Sarsgaard and Clémence Poésy. Max Irons, Dane DeHaan, Junia Rees, Jordan Kouamé, Emma Laird, Marc Menchaca, André De Shields and Isabella Pappas also appear.
Based on Gibson’s influential novel, Neuromancer has been in development as one of Apple TV+’s biggest sci-fi swings, bringing a foundational cyberpunk story to the screen decades after it helped define the genre.
Produced by Paramount Television Studios and Anonymous Content, the series has Roland serving as showrunner and executive producer alongside Dillard, David Levine, Garrett Kemble and Zack Hayden for Anonymous Content.
Aubrey “Drake” Graham, Adel “Future” Nur and Jason Shrier executive produce for DreamCrew Entertainment, with Jennifer Haley and William Gibson also serving as executive producers. Dillard directs the first three episodes.
