A boat overturned off the coast of Liberty Island Saturday night, prompting a rescue effort by officials including the Coast Guard, according to sources.
Two people, a woman and a child, were pulled from the water after the 10:25 p.m. incident and had to be hospitalized in critical condition, sources said.
About a dozen other people were safely rescued from the water in New York Harbor.
