She couldn’t worm her way out of this one.
A three-year-old beagle with an insatiable sweet tooth was rushed to the emergency room after eating 2.4 pounds of gummy worms.
Scooter, who lives in Australia, was taken to Animal Emergency Service Jindalee this week after her owners discovered their candy stash had been raided.

Although the pup’s sister, Jada, was also brought in, Scooter was proven to be responsible for the chow-down after she was weighed and found to be heavier than usual, according to 1News.
As a precaution, the vet gave both beagles, whose breed is known for overeating, medication to induce vomiting, and Scooter threw up almost the entire amount of worms that had gone missing.
Scooter had “clearly no regrets in her decision,” veterinary nurse manager Kate Wesche told 1News.
“Poor sister Jada had only eaten a single jelly snake.”
Wesche went on to cite the dangers of the sweet treats, which tend to contain the low-calorie sugar substitute xylitol.
“Xylitol can be very toxic to dogs, causing seizures and affecting the liver,” she told the outlet.
Luckily, the brand the pups ingested did not include xylitol, “but the amount of natural sugar they would have consumed can still cause severe gastrointestinal upset,” she added.
The hospital posted about the gummy medical emergency on its Facebook page, and doggie parents took to the comments section to share similar stories of their pets’ gluttony.
“My dog did this with two bags of Werther’s Originals! Swallowed em whole!” one wrote.
“My pit ate a 4 pound container of twizzlers and then puked them from one side of the house to the other on my off white carpet,” another said.
“Half Beagle: Has gone to the ER on separate occasions … these instances include half a bottle of ibuprofen, an entire bottle of her 75lbs bother’s gabapentin, an entire bag of Reese’s, and A FULL ONE GALLON BAG OF RAISINS AND CASHEWS,” someone else added.
“Had a hound that decided to eat 36 raw dinner rolls that were rising on my counter while I was gone. She looked like she swallowed a basketball when I found her,” another recalled.
“My dog ate an entire bar of Irish Spring soap,” someone else lamented.
“Threw it up because her tumtum hurt, then immediately tired to eat it again.”
