Giants sign Jake Haener to add depth at quarterback

The Giants made an addition to their quarterback room on Monday.

The team signed Jake Haener, who was a fourth-round draft pick of the Saints in 2023.

Haener starred at Fresno State but saw few opportunities in three seasons in New Orleans.

Haener played in eight games in his career — all in 2024 — only seeing significant time in a 26-8 loss to the Chargers on Oct. 27 of that season.

In that game Haener completed 9 of 17 passes for 122 yards. He has one touchdown and one interception in his career.

The 27-year-old signed with the Chiefs in February but was released in May.

Haener could compete with Brandon Allen for the third spot on the Giants depth chart behind Jaxson Dart and Jameis Winston. The Giants used the roster spot that opened up when cornerback Sam Webb retired on Sunday days after signing with the team.

Haener will likely see snaps in the Giants’ final two preseason games, starting Saturday against the Dolphins in Miami.
