‘The Challenge’ Season 42 Exclusive Clip: The Gray Team Must Choose To Put Up Nurys Mateo Or Sydney Segal For Elimination

The competition is heating up on The Challenge: Cutthroat. In this exclusive clip from this week’s episode—premiering Wednesday, August 19, at 3 AM ET on Paramount+—the Gray team once again must put two of their teammates up for potential elimination on girls’ day. As the players prepare for their deliberation on the lower level of The Challenge house, host TJ Lavin approaches them. “Alright, Gray team. Unfortunately, it’s your second time in a row having to make some very difficult decisions.”

“So now you have to nominate two players for possible elimination,” advises Lavin as Team Captains Leonardo “Leo” Dionicio and Cassidy Clark listen intently. Lavin continues: “One player is going to be selected by your captains. The rest of you are then going to have a vote.” Noting the Gray team’s baleful expressions, Lavin wishes them “good luck” before making his exit.

Little does the Gray team know that Orange team members Chris “CT” Tamburello, Tori Deal, Deb Chubb, and Michele Fitzgerald have been spying on them from the second story of The Challenge house. Slowly, Tamburello lowers the end of a makeshift telephone—two cups attached by a string—down to the Gray team below. Dionicio looks up in confusion as the cup appears above him. Tamburello has written “Super Secret Shh” on the side of the cup.

Gray teamers Sydney Segal, Nurys Mateo, Cory Wharton, Keanu Soto, Chris Underwood, and Adrienne Naylor look up and immediately smile. “Super secret spy phone,” says Mateo. Underwood jumps up and grabs the cup. “So, we really hate Orange,” says Underwood, and everyone laughs. The Orange team then retreats inside the house, and it’s time for the Gray team to get down to business.

“It’s obviously not ideal being second,” begins Dionicio. “I don’t know what the group consensus will be for the other two names, but the person we’re going with is Adrienne.” Naylor rolls her eyes at Dionicio’s proclamation, but he goes on. “At the end of the day, we are a team, and we’re the only ones who can get us the dub.”

In her confessional, Clark reveals her and Dionicio’s master plan. “Adrienne is the best decision because we know that Izzy [Fairthorne, Naylor’s best friend and Orange team captain] is not going to nominate her, and I’m going to have to leave it up to my team to decide between Nurys and Sydney.” As the camera flashes to Segal and Mateo—both looking very unhappy—Clark continues talking to the camera. “They may not be happy about that, but I want to get the least amount of blood on my hands.

So who will the rest of the Gray team choose to be up for elimination? Tune in to a brand new episode of The Challenge: Cutthroat this Wednesday on Paramount+.
